Dr. Vivian Huang Receives National C.A.C.A. Spirit of America Award
The Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) presented its prestigious Spirit of America Award to Dr. Vivian Huang during its 58th Biennial National Convention held on Sunday, September 7, 2025. This award recognizes outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to society. Past recipients from Phoenix include Dr. Pearl Tang (2011) and Roxanne Song Ong (2015).
Dr. Huang was honored for her unwavering dedication and leadership in improving the lives of not only Chinese Americans but also vulnerable populations worldwide. Board-certified in internal medicine and preventive medicine/public health, she has led major health initiatives in Asian communities, notably in the fight against Hepatitis B. Her work has earned her accolades from the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center and the Hepatitis B United Champion Award.
Her dedication to serving vulnerable populations has taken her to some of the world’s most difficult front lines. She has treated HIV & tuberculosis with Doctors Without Borders in Swaziland, cared for war trauma victims in Syria, and fought Ebola alongside Partners in Health in Sierra Leone. Closer to home, she has tackled public health crises ranging from COVID-19 and hepatitis B to monkeypox, diabetes, and influenza—both in New York City, Maricopa County, Arizona and on the Navajo Reservation.
